Only used a couple of times but really pleased with the content. Bought a garmin universal friction mount with it which is brilliant.
I had an earlier version of this machine and was pleased to see that my new purchase gave better map details including town names/restaurants/petrol stations as they were passed. Garmin still have a tendency to show street names on their maps without any clear reference as to which town and village you are in. However, i still very much like the machine, having been a sceptical user at first. Also very much worth purchasing the garmin dash board mount which sticks (on a removable basis. )it makes placement in the car much more convenient than the provided screen mount.
Pros
- Very Nice - an update
- Good car sat-nav unit
- it's ok, not great
- another star from garmin
- Highly effective, but slow to update
- Garmin Nuve Sat Nav
Cons
- Disappointed - has stopped working after 6 months
Negative Review of Garmin nuvi 2455LT 4.3" Sat Nav with Europe Maps and Lifetime Traffic
Disappointed - has stopped working after 6 months. The traffic detection stuff seems flaky - sometimes it points out upcoming traffic jams that aren't there. In fairness, it can only be as good as the feed data it gets.
Sometimes it won't switch on. Tried holding down the on/off switch, nothing. Other times, a quick tap of the on/ off switch is all that's needed. To cap it all, our device has stopped working - on all journeys it gets stuck "acquiring satellites". If you google for this, others have the same issue.

Gps Views. So would recommend it. Also very much worth purchasing the garmin dash board mount which sticks (on a removable basis. )it makes placement in the car much more convenient than the provided screen mount. .
It's Ok, Not Great. It works. I'm used to tomtom. This one isn't as intuitive for me and lacks functionality. I'd like to see at what time i'll arrive, km remaining as well as time left but it seems to only show time left. If you want to change something in the settings, it seems to delete where you were going and you have to start again. When you want to go somewhere via a city, you have to enter in a full address, it won't just take you via the city centre. Having said all that, i haven't downloaded the instruction manual (i'd have liked one in the box). Perhaps all would become clear bit i have never needed the manual before!.
Really Pleased!. Only used a couple of times but really pleased with the content. Bought a garmin universal friction mount with it which is brilliant. Thank you. .

Conclusion of Garmin nuvi 2455LT 4
I get the feeling though that i probably haven't figured out all of the things strengths and capabilities, and i don't appreciate having to do all the work myself - garmin made it, i'm pretty sure they could have given a better guide so that you could get more out of it straight from the boxsignal acquisition was amazingly fast - especially as my point of comparison is a pretty old device. It handles you taking wrong turns really easily, and recalculates your route quickly and without fuss, making me think that road closures and diversions will be of no real consequence. Some of the nice features are the constant posting of what the current speed limit is on the road you are travelling and the park position recall so that you can find where you left your car in a strange town. Have now done a couple of longer trips using this device, and yes it is still very nice. Bloody silly really, who doesn't want to be warned of these things?everything else works absolutely fine, fast reaction to route changes, traffic and major road work notice is helpful, generally still 'very nice'.
For the nuvi 2455lt to work correctly, you have to go to the garmin website and upgrade the maps. It very quickly recalculated a new route when i had to divert because of an accident blocking the road so i did not get lost driving down some new roads. I have only given four stars because of the garmin website. Doing a software upgrade, the website still maintains that i have to do software upgrade. Also, when asking questions of garmin support, you do not get any feedback from the website or an email from garmin that your question has been received.
I had an earlier version of this machine and was pleased to see that my new purchase gave better map details including town names/restaurants/petrol stations as they were passed. Garmin still have a tendency to show street names on their maps without any clear reference as to which town and village you are in. Only used a couple of times but really pleased with the content. This is my first personal satnav & im realy enjoying it, i had a navman at my last job & it was ok the map was well out of date & they didnt seem to offer updates.
There is alot of features i didnt realy care about or felt i needed but now i see them some are very handy or just a nice touch. Speed camera info for example more so the new red light cameras tho i tend not to speed or jump red light its still nice to know & double check your speed or risk a close light. The traffic mod on this model is odd as its an extra lump on your car power lead & not realy garmins item so could stop one day but it works realy well & the satnav will offer you an alternate route. 1 thing i didnt like was online update it didnt tell me well to force the unit off & restart then the unit might say restarting but not tho in the end it all was fine. You can use the mains lead to fidle with it indoors(carfull tho it can go in simulation mode & you cant seem to get it back out, but just put it in the car set a route & say go & say no to simulate)one handy thing for map updates it seems to have 8gb memory & only 4 used on current maps & you can change what your marker is on screen, you can have a borring arrow but a car looks better & i also got a tie fighter & xwing off starwars mods witch does look cool, they were free you can buy a starwars pack for yoda or vader's voice but you can get the other bits free, dashboards.
Oh Yeah!. God knows i am one of the useless on earth when it talks about direction but this sat nav is my guide. However, i have not used it on foot yet. I am sure it will be reliable too. .
Great. I brought this for my husband he found it fantastic but tried to get the free life time updates was very hard in the end he gave up. The satnav itself is really good and easy to use. .
