Its what i expected and delivered in super quick time.
Keep eyes on the road, very accurate using navigon europe app. Speed warnings, bend warnings and traffic info all there verbally.
Pros
- Fantastic product
- Simplicity itself!
- It's OK and works effectively, but it's all just a bit messy for me.
- Not as good as Garmins normal sat navs
- Guidance while still watching the road
- but at the moment it has more bad points than good
Cons
- A great concept but a really disappointing result
- Get a proper satnav - not this one
- Pretty disappointing as it needed a smart phone to run
- The phone app is good! Head up display hopeless Don't buy one
Negative Review of Garmin HUD in Car Navigation Display with Garmin StreetPilot Navigation App WE for iPhone/iPad
Features of Garmin HUD in Car Navigation Display with Garmin StreetPilot Navigation App WE for iPhone/iPad
- HUD+ projects turn-by-turn directions onto a transparent film on your windscreen or a reflector lens
- It provides an estimated time of arrival, Lane Assist and speed, traffic and safety camera alerts
- Works wirelessly to receive navigation information from your compatible Bluetooth-enabled smartphones running the free Garmin HUD app
- Easy to use and set up - apply the transparent film on your windscreen or reflector lens, place HUD on your dashboard and pair HUD with your phone
- HUD automatically adjusts its brightness level so projections are clearly visible in direct sunlight or at night
As well as being easy to use, HUD is also extremely easy to set up. Simply download the free StreetPilot Navigation App (scratch card included in the box), apply the transparent film onto your windscreen, (or attach the included reflector lens if you prefer), place HUD on your dashboard and pair the device with your iphone 3GS (or later) or ipad 2 (or later) - which takes seconds. Choose your destination and the HUD will project turn-by-turn directions to get you there. HUD automatically adjusts its brightness level, so its projections and turn by turn instructions are clearly visible in direct sunlight or at night. HUD provides turn indicators, distance to your next turn, current speed and speed limit, and estimated time arrival. The device will also let you know what lane to be in for your next manoeuvre, and can warn you of potential traffic delays and upcoming safety traffic camera locations. An integrated USB port on your car's power/adapter cable makes it easy to charge your phone while you're driving.

Simplicity Itself!. A very effective and simple device to install and use in combination with my i phone.
One Star. Must have bluetooth radio if you want to hear the hud+ it's very good with clear directions and display but seem to like the sound of her own voice and keep disrupting music playback, very disappointed with the warning sounds for the speed cameras and it not very clear on the display look like a little pale red dot happy to pay the what i did from amazon but no way worth the £150 i'd you would pay from garmin.
Good Product.. Its pretty good. Does what it says on the tin! i'd prefer if it was a bit bigger, showed the junctions you don't turn at and would project straight onto the windscreen - but i'm happy with it. Got it for less than £50 - so its a cheap sat nav. .

Conclusion of Garmin HUD in Car Navigation Display
I like the format of the display although the distance to a turn lags a bit on the display. This garmin head up display plus makes it much easier to use my iphone as a sat nav. Also includes garmin navigation app so worth getting the + version. So this sat nat uses the latest technology. Keep eyes on the road, very accurate using navigon europe app. The idea of having a head-up display sat nav is a really futuristic one as not that many cars have them, so i was quite excited to get this working. Firstly, loading the app on my phone. The text is clear in all light conditions which was impressive as i was expecting it to be really hard to see in very bright sun, but it was still very clear which was good.
It's a sort of very old school crude sat nav. Compared to some of the directions you get on the new large screen sat navs with proper graphic lane assist, it's a bit of a step backwards, even with the convenience of data being projected onto the windscreen. So, it works ok and is accurate in its navigation, however, for me the big issue is the whole fuss of getting it going using your phone connecting via bluetooth and wires for power. It's just a lot of hassle compared to using a conventional lcd sat nav. It looks far too 'after market' too with wire trailing down the dash to the power supply.
I like things to look neat and tidy on my dash, but this just makes it look a mess. Nice attempt garmin, but i feel i'll still be sticking with my lcd garmin as this does the job with no wires and phone to connect to. I was really pleased to receive this as i am generally speaking a fan of garmin products, and i thought that this looked like the latest modern gadget to have. The app you have to use through your mobile phone is laborious and slow to download. The display is a little old fashioned in that a map is not displayed it is more like a series on green lines etc.
I use a normal garmin sat nav regularly and it is absolutely brilliant. Had a few issues with the way bluetooth interface worked, but garmin support were very helpful and sorted this after 10 mins on the phone to them. Good size, easy to read display. It is a very good idea and it works well allowing you to concentrate on the road and not have to look away. Everyone says it looks aftermarket.
I always had my satnav on just to see my speed, with the hud+ it's so much safer, easier and faster to keep track of the speed. Cracks me up every time i read about someone who 'had to spend hundreds of dollars just to get it working' (navigon app to the previous version of hud - it's free now, so unless you buy hud and don't have a smartphone you should be fine.
Not As Good As Garmins Normal Sat Navs. I was really pleased to receive this as i am generally speaking a fan of garmin products, and i thought that this looked like the latest modern gadget to have. In theory it sounded really great. In practice it was rather disappointing. The app you have to use through your mobile phone is laborious and slow to download. It wasn't a particularly easy process. Certainly not a plug and play device. Which would be ok if the device then worked effortlessly, but sadly it doesn't. Reception is lost too frequently. The display is a little old fashioned in that a map is not displayed it is more like a series on green lines etc. I'm afraid i wasn't impressed. I use a normal garmin sat nav regularly and it is absolutely brilliant. This costs a similar amount to the average customer, but isn't anywhere near as good. .

The idea of having a head-up display sat nav is a really futuristic one as not that many cars have them, so i was quite excited to get this working. Firstly, loading the app on my phone. I can confirm with another reviewer that this took ages, far too long really at over an hour. If you're expecting to unbox this and use it straight away you will be disappointed, so please note. The actual unit is fairly small and stayed put on my dash with no worries, even under really hard braking (which i tried to see if i could unsettle it!). The text is clear in all light conditions which was impressive as i was expecting it to be really hard to see in very bright sun, but it was still very clear which was good. The directions, whilst accurate, are very basic. It's a sort of very old school crude sat nav.
